Laser Therapy

Laser is used widely in the treatment of oral health problems, because it shows favorable effects such as decrease of bleeding, acceleration of wound healing and pain-relief.

When laser is applied during dentistry applications; post-extraction bleeding decreases, wound healing accelerates and pain is relieved quickly. The same applies when embedded teeth are extracted. Especially in patients with heart disease, diabetes, goiter, hypertension and epilepsy, in whom local anesthetics with no anti-bleeding activity are given, the laser application is proving very useful, because the bleeding lasts a bit longer in these cases.

In patients with bleeding, retracted and diseased gum, bleeding lasts shorter than usual and healing occurs more quickly if conventional measures are supported with a laser application

The laser is most useful in relieving pains associated with retraction of gum. After any operations performed in the oral cavity, the regional application of laser beam accelerates the healing of the tissues and relieves the pains associated with such operations. It also prevents the entry of germs by providing a quick healing at the suture region.

By the way, a quick reminder to correct a widespread false knowledge: the light beam used during light fillings is not a true laser beam.
